MEMBERSHIP

By joining the Gulf Coast Association of Legal Support Professionals, you become a member of the Mississippi Legal Professional Association; NALS….the association for legal professionals; and NALS Region 6, which makes it a “multi-level" association).  This multi-level association is a non-partisan, non-political, non-union, and non-profit organization.  Its main objective is to enhance the competencies of legal professionals through continuing legal education, technology training, and networking with other legal professionals, and personal development.  GCALSP also offers the Basic and Advanced Legal Training Courses for legal support professionals.

A member has the opportunity to attend local chapter meetings where quality legal education is offered every month. A member can attend state association meetings, where he/she will be exposed to some of the top legal experts in this state. At the National conferences, speakers from across the country address issues of national importance, enlightening NALS members with a national perspective. As a NALS member, you also receive valuable legal education every month via the newsletters, e-Learn, @NALS and Leading the Way, delivered directly to your computer through your e-mail address. The NALS quarterly publication @Law is packed with informative articles and association information in an award-winning format.

NALS offers members and nonmembers the opportunity to sit for three unique certifications dedicated to the legal services profession. The exams are of varying levels and are developed by professionals in the industry. ALS...the basic certification for legal professionals and PLS...the advanced certification for legal professionals are two certifications dedicated to legal professionals of all types. The third certification is dedicated to those professionals performing paralegal duties. The Professional Paralegal, (PP), certification was developed by paralegals for paralegals. Each of the three certifications is developed by NALS and takes advantage of the more than 75 years of experience and dedication to the legal services industry only NALS has to offer.

Qualifications for membership:  Individuals engaged in work of a legal nature and who agree to comply with the NALS Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility are eligible for membership.
